Where The Light Looks

Hold your flashlight
Wavering across the darkness
Illuminating the forest floor, the rocks, the roots...
Even if right now, only within a tiny circumference...
Look towards darkness
The attention of the light
Point it higher
And see
A branch, a tree
Small silver eyes that flicker as it passes
Reflecting back the light from their sanctuaries
Here where you once felt fear, blindness
Now you see the path, now you see life
Ignite your lantern
Let it pour softly into the woods around you
Walk with confidence over sticks and stones
Watch as moths and bugs find your glow
Life emerges from the darkness
Listen to the hum of nature
Look even higher now
Where the blackness once cloaked the land in mystery
The moon and the stars lift the curtain
The silver tree tops reaching to the sky
Listen to the birds
Sing the dawn into existence

Crumbs

Looking back I see
Clues I left along the way
Guiding myself home

Sometimes I am

Sometimes I am a golden nebula
Floating through outer space
Sometimes I am person
Sitting still in place
Sometimes I am surrounded
By electricity and light
Sometimes I am a darkness
Sleeping in the night
Sometimes I am listening
Sometimes I am not
Sometimes I remember
Sometimes I forgot
Sometimes I am many light years
Across the starry sky
Sometimes I am a single point
Inside my open eye
