White Caps

At first the clouds, like white whisps stalling
Then came the light rain
Gently falling
Lightly tapping on the leaves
Dripping on the mossy earth
Until the tapping getting louder
Wooden ships against the berth
Muddy boots increase in number
White noise drowning out the crying
Slowly footsteps turns to thunder
Heavy rain, not subsiding
Take up your weapons, take up your paddles
Loud like many hooves stampeding
Water bloodied from the battles
Crashing on the banks unceding
Many droplets make the river
Spilling out across the plains
Waves continually breaking,
Until we realize
we are the rain
Falling tears join the flooding
rising up to meet horizon
Morning sun lights the silence
Misty rainbow in the distance
Silhouette of lonely bison
