Maybe God called her outside that night
And told her it was time.
The past few days she was awfully nice.
But we didn't think much of why.
Dusk is always dangerous
Safety disappears like the sun
hide her from the eyes of the wilderness
keep her safe form harm
Cherish every moment
Before she escapes into the night
to indulge her curiosity
from the prison of her life
Despite the endless luxuries
Indoors is such a bore
Away into the light she went
Somewhere in the darkness out our door
Now all I have is memories
and blankets covered with fur
The feeling of the softest white
The comfort of her purr
It must have been her time to go
God must have set her free
Return to the wild of her heart
The wilderness watching over me.
