Baby

Like a bullet shattering darkness with light
You emerged from a flower and let out a cry
The frequency of life, like electricity
Shocking my heart with love unequivocally
expanding, demanding, everyday as you grow
emotions run deeper than I've ever known
Filling the crevasses inside of my soul
I yearn for this heart ache, it swallows me whole
Perfectly, imperfect like tracks in the snow
Into the beautiful vastness I go

Updates

On this day I made edits.

The Wall

What is a wall but a very tall line
Just another man-made mountain to climb
Enjoy the view at the top and all the way along
Another place to listen to a peddler play a song
What is a wall but a border made in 3D space
A pedestrian haven, where people walk between two places
Atop, travellers from abroad marvel at scenic views
a vast canvas, rigid in the breeze, an artist's muse
What is a wall but a contour fortified
A wonder of the world, source of national pride
where graffiti expressions reach to new heights
where bricks and mortar transcend terabytes
What is a wall but a place to put doors
With something on the other side to explore
through which the masses join by admission
In prospect, a cultural juxtaposition
What is a wall but a vertical plane
Sea to sea, infinite points that convene
A blank space for the imagery of the heart
yet what would a wall do, but keep us apart?

Manitoba Calling

 I hear their voices
Like whispers by water
Figures suddenly passing
in the corner of my eye
Like the silence of forest
broken by river
they beg me to follow
horizon to sky
The wind in the wheat field
fades into the thunder
of cloven hooves running
by muddy cliff sides
Whisked away in the breeze
like the soil beneath me
Suddenly silence.
I open my eyes.
Their hands outstretched,reach to me
into the future
in photos, and records,
in stories they hide.
Near forgotten gravestones
the locusts are buzzing.
The frogs begin chirping.
The harsh pairie sighs.
I am still listening,
to ghosts of the fallen,
They wander the valley...
Manitoba is calling.

Ball & Chain

You live in this cold dungeon I’ve created from the depths of my pain.
You suffer all the things I hated.
I am your ball and chain.
Isn't it lonely inside these walls?
You'll crumble away from the light.
Surrounded by stone, you're all alone.
You live in my shadow of fright.

You could escape these clanking chains Created to keep you from going away.
And step out of these clothes
ragged and stained
Into a new brighter day.
Leave me behind to return to the stone
To be washed away by the rain...
But I'll come back to rebuild,
To dust off my throne,
I am your ball and chain.
