Just Another Day

 I have a friend who’s beautiful

Everything in the right place

At the right time

Every head looks her way

Her teeth sparkle

and her hair shines

But trends are fickle, and bodies change

Attention fades with age…

One day she came to me

Wilted and afraid

How do I feel when no one looks my way?

When no one opens doors, or smiles

my efforts are in vain

I said

To me, it’s just another day

It’s just another day

Another day of freedom from the eyes

of lust or shame

I said, to me

It’s just another day

How do I feel when

No one asks me about my day

Or gives me compliments

Or remembers my name

I said

To me, it’s just another day

It’s just another day
