When I look in your eyes I see a clever disguise
I see blackness and coldness and stone
I see charcoal and smoke and a heart that's been broke
and a man insecure and alone.
But like dusty glass, I polish and look past
at the world that he's left behind.
exotic sights, lively music, and passionate nights
and I see how much more's on his mind.
But dark clouds in his vision, direct his decisions,
as he seeks for the cure to his sorrow
then easy to trust, he hands himself over to lust
thinking he'll be happy tomorrow.
but the fire won't burn, you have something to learn
love doesn't start in the rain.
dry up your tears and when the storm clears
in your eyes I will look for a flame.
